10 Recommended Skyrim Mods That Make the Playing Experience More Exciting and Immersive
First released in 2011, who would have thought that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has succeeded in becoming one of the popular games that is still played by many gamers today. Because of its success, many people have accused Bethesda as the developer of continuously blackmailing Skyrim by re-released the game many times on various platforms, even presenting a complete remastered version with all of its DLC in Skyrim: Special Edition.
We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.
However, it is undeniable that Skyrim’s popularity has survived thanks to the various mods that are still popping up today. Starting from mods that just beautify the appearance of the game, presenting new mechanisms that make the playing experience more immersive, to quirky mods such as changing the dragons in it into characters from the Thomas & Friends anime. As per this article, the number of original Skyrim mods has reached 64 thousand and Skyrim: Special Edition has reached 27 thousand mods, and even then with other mods that are present outside of Nexus.
On this occasion, I would like to recommend several Skyrim mods that need to be installed if you want a more exciting, more immersive and lore-friendly gaming experience. Given that The Elder Scroll VI itself has no definite release date yet, revisiting Skyrim in 2020 these mods can be a temporary alternative for you old players, and of course bring a more special experience for you new players.

Please also note that the mods that I list below are only mods that bring new aspects or improve game mechanics. I will not include visual mods such as increasing asset textures, beautifying NPCs and the like so that potato PC owners can still enjoy these mods without making the game too heavy. Not only that, I will only include the Skyrim Special Edition version of the mod, but these mods usually come first for the original Skyrim.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, it is recommended to install the mods below using the application Vortex provided by Nexus for an easier process, as well as apps LOOT to manage the load order of all the mods you install automatically. You are also advised to install the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch mod first to fix various bugs that are left behind or that can make a mod not run properly. Don’t miss it, please read the description of each of these mods on the Nexus page first, so you don’t get confused about how the mods below work in the game.

1. Frostfall & Campfire
Skyrim is a province where most of the area is cold and snowy. But in vanilla Skyrim, we don’t feel too affected by the unfriendly weather. The Frostfall mod is here to implement a mechanism where your character will be exposed to various negative effects if you stay in cold weather for too long, even worse in mountainous and snowy areas. There is a new HUD in the form of a meter that specifically shows how long your character can last in cold weather. Warming yourself up by standing by a fireplace, going inside a building or even a cave will reset the meter in a matter of moments. Your character is also encouraged to wear full armor to slow down the meter’s filling, but note that each armor has different exposure resistance to cold weather.
Along with this mod, I also recommend the Campfire mod made by the same modder. As the name implies, you can build a camp while exploring Skyrim, where with this mod you certainly won’t have to have too much trouble finding shelter from the cold weather or just warming yourself up quickly, because this camp feature can be built almost anywhere. The Campfire mod also features Survival skills that will help you explore the Skyrim wilderness.

2. iNeed
Slightly related to the mod in the previous point, iNeed is a mod that makes your character need to sleep, eat and drink regularly. In vanilla Skyrim, sleep is an alternative to skip time, then food and drinks only function to regenerate HP, Mana, Stamina, and several other effects. But with the iNeed mod, getting enough sleep, consuming food and drinks is very important. If you are too sleepy, hungry or thirsty, your character will get a negative effect, and vice versa. Not only that, now eating raw food can also have a negative effect, so this indirectly makes the existing cooking features in Skyrim vanilla feel more meaningful.

3. Immersive Weapons & Immersive Armors
If you have played vanilla Skyrim and are bored with the same equipment, then the Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapon mods are the solution. Both of these mods add a variety of new weapons and armor that remain lore-friendly, and even come with several new variations of existing equipment. Various NPCs in Skyrim, friends or enemies will also wear various equipment that is present in these two mods. Furthermore, these two mods also allow you to fuse various existing equipment to get the raw materials. A feature that was previously unavailable in Skyrim. The Immersive Armors mod itself is also compatible with the Frostfall mod.

4. Wearable Lanterns
Skyrim vanilla provides Torch items or torches for lighting at night, even when entering dark caves and buildings. But it is undeniable that when using a torch, you can only use one hand to fight. For those of you who use Bow, Sword & Shield or Two-handed Weapon, it may be difficult to fight in a dark place. Responding to these complaints, there is a mod called Weareable Lanterns. As the name implies, this mod will present a lantern item as a lighting source that can be used like armor, so you can still use both your hands and the area around you is still illuminated.

5. Imperious – Races of Skyrim
Imperious is a simple mod that makes the races in Skyrim more unique from each other. Specifically, this mod makes each race now have different basic stats, then there are also three new passive abilities, as well as a new active ability that can be obtained through certain activities or quests. Various NPCs now also get access to these passive and active abilities according to their respective races.

6. Ordinator – Perks of Skyrim
Skyrim does not present a class system, but has a Perks system or you could say skills that are divided into several categories, so you can focus on several things at once. But if you feel that the Perks in vanilla Skyrim are less varied, there is the Ordinator mod which adds more than 400 new perks that you can choose from each category. Some of them just strengthen or modify existing perks, and there are also various new abilities that of course remain lore-friendly.

7. Wintersun – Faiths of Skyrim
Another mod that makes the game even more immersive, Wintersun features a series of mechanics where worshiping gods or Deities becomes more meaningful. With this mod, each Deities has a favor percentage which is higher, the bigger the bonus stats your character will get. One of the main ways to increase those favors is to literally pray using a new skill called “Pray”, at least once a day during in-game time. Although generally praying can be done anytime and anywhere, there are some Deities that have special worship requirements.

8. Recorder – Standalone Fully Voiced Follower
Talking about the Skyrim mod, it’s incomplete if you don’t include the Follower mod. I recommend a Follower named Recorder to accompany your adventure. As the name implies, Recorder has a background as a person who will ‘record’ and document the story of the Dragonborn in eradicating dragons that return to Skyrim. What’s impressive about this mod, of course, is the voice acting and quality that doesn’t feel like a mod, but like part of the Skyrim game itself. Like some of the main vanilla Followers, Lydia or Serana for example, the Recorder has a lot of comments that he will make when fighting, exploring certain places and various moments. And no less interesting, you can also marry a Recorder if.

9. Build Your Noble House
Skyrim vanilla does have some properties that can be purchased as a home. Then comes the Hearthfire DLC which presents some land for sale for us to build our own house. But for those of you who expect more than that, the Build Your Noble House mod is here like building a village complete with facilities such as a Blacksmith, Tavern, Temple, to your own residence in the form of a small castle. Please note that this mod has a mechanism similar to Hearthfire, namely building all these facilities requires a lot of materials such as Clay, Firewood, Quarry Stone and others. But take it easy because many of these materials are scattered in locations around your village. Periodically you will also get money as tax from the facilities that you have built.

10. Missives
There’s no denying that vanilla Skyrim itself has so many missions and side activities that it can take up to 700 hours to complete them all. But if you feel that this amount is not enough, there is a Missive mod that presents many new quests but the scale itself is arguably smaller like Miscellaneous Quest. Every big city now has a board containing quests that we can take, starting from just collecting materials, delivering an item from one NPC to another and other simple quests. Each of these Missive quests usually takes place around that city only, so indirectly these quests are suitable for those of you who want to get NPCs or small rewards quickly.

Well, those are 10 mods that I think can make the Skyrim experience more interesting and more immersive. If you know of other mods that can make the Skyrim game even more exciting even though it’s played in 2020, just let us know right away!
