Apple Officially Closes Epic Games Account from App Store

After a temporary decision a few days ago, Apple has now officially “turned off” the developer account from Epic Games. This means they can no longer sell their games or content to the Appstore.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Epic Games is still allowed to develop Unreal Engine for iOS due to orders from yesterday’s provisional decision. So third-party developers who develop iOS games using Unreal Engine technology can still operate and not be disturbed by disputes between the two companies.

“We are disappointed to have to close the Epic Games account from the Appstore,” Apple said in a statement to 9to5Mac. “We have worked with Epic Games for many years. The court recommended that Epic follow the rules of the Appstore for as long as the case continues, rules they had followed until suddenly breaking them caused this situation.”

“Epic has refused to follow the rules. Instead, they repeatedly provide Fortnite updates that are designed to violate the rules of the Appstore. This is unfair to other developers on the Appstore and leaves consumers in the middle of a dispute. We hope we can work together again in the future, unfortunately this has not been realized yet.” Add the company behind the iPhone and Macbook catalog.

Shortly after the statement was published, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic made a reply via Twitter. He explained that Apple didn’t close their accounts because they had to, but because they wanted to.

The case of Apple vs. Epic Games continues to this day. The court requested that both companies continue to provide detailed arguments before making a final decision. As long as this case continues, Fortnite players may have to give up being able to play chapter 2 season 4 on the iOS platform.
