AppStore and Google PlayStore Officially Remove Fortnite After Epic Games Enters Its Own Payment Options

It looks like Epic Games still really doesn’t agree with the policy of cutting 30% of each game profit on the AppStore and Google Play Store. Where this has led to the emergence of a new payment method called “Epic Direct Payment”. Feeling Epic Games violated the guidelines from the AppStore and Google PlayStore, Apple and Google finally officially removed the Fortnite game from the download provider service.

This started when Epic Games, through Fortnite, held an amazing “mega drop” event which gave each player a 20% discount on V-Bucks on the condition that they make payments via “Epic Direct Payment”. The main reason for Epic Games to do this is because Epic Games feels that Apple and Google are continuously taking 30% of every purchase through their services. Previously, the CEO of Tim Sweeeny himself had asked Apple and Android to stop the “monopoly practice”, because it was felt to be detrimental to game developers.

Reportedly, in response to the removal of Fortnite from the two applications, Epic Games is ready to sue Apple and Android. Epic Games itself filed a claim for compensation and accused Apple and Google of monopolizing the market related to the distribution of applications. Of course, the steps taken by Epic Games itself can be a loss for Fortnite players, especially those who play this game on their smartphones. Let’s just wait, what will this Apple, Google and Epic Games drama be like.
