Assassin's Creed Creator Disappointed With Ubisoft For Turning Series Into Action RPG

However, since the release of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Ubisoft as a developer seems to have started to abandon the mechanics social stealth and is now more focused on the Action/RPG genre. Although some players appreciated the change, some other fans were disappointed because they considered the main identity of the Assassin’s Creed series removed. In fact, Patrice Desilets as the creator of Assassin’s Creed is also disappointed with the direction of the game at this time.

Through his interview with PC Gamer, Desilets, who is no longer working at Ubisoft, expressed his concern about the franchise Assassin’s Creed moving away from the genre stealth. However, he understands Ubisoft’s decision to turn it into an RPG.

Desilets says the main reason is “money”. Alias, because making AAA games requires a very large capital. So to avoid losses, Ubisoft prefers to follow the current trend, namely gameplay that seems more attractive fast paced rather than genre stealth which usually has slow gameplay (slow paced).

Desilets also explained that game creation with the social stealth very difficult. Although the system has its own uniqueness, unfortunately Ubisoft considers it too risky if the game fails. The location of the difficulty lies in the angle of realism where the developer has to make the character really look hidden behind the crowd. Plus in terms of graphics and also fluidity from the gameplay which of course must meet the current AAA game standards.

Apart from a number of opinions mixed, the Assassin’s Creed series is still one of the franchise Ubisoft’s mainstay so far. This is evidenced by the success of its last game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which received positive responses from critics and earned it the title of Ubisoft’s game with the most successful launch on the PC platform.
