Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's New Game, Reportedly Bigger Than Skyrim

Last week, Obsidian Entertainment unveiled 3 projects, new DLC from The Outer Worlds, Grounded and Avowed. The last game that caught a lot of fans’ attention seeing that it would be an AAA class game from the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas. From the short trailer on display, it seems that Avowed wants to be a new competitor to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls.

From the info shared by an insider, Avowed will be a first-person RPG game with an open-world scale larger and denser than Skyrim. The game will be set in the same world as their previous project, Pillars of Eternity and the game will offer AI and physics next-gen, dynamic weather, complete character customization and a companion system like those in their previous games.

Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda seem to be aggressively trying to compete with the Zenimax studio. Starting from The Outer World who tried to defeat Fallout and now Avowed who wants to compete with The Elder Scrolls. With Obsidian Entertainment no longer an indie-scale studio and receiving funding from Microsoft, we’ll see if Avowed can exceed the expectations of The Elder Scrolls fans.

The game is still in the early development stages, so a release date has not been announced and it may be a while from now. But one thing is for sure, the game will be released for Xbox Series X as well as PC.
