Making the mode a hallmark of the series Call of Duty Treyarch made. At least the three main developers, namely Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch themselves, have their own way of developing their games.

But who would have thought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare made by Infinity Ward apparently had time to lift the concept in the game.

This was stated by Infinity Ward Principal Artist, Aaron Beck on his Instagram account showing the zombie design early in development Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The image below shows a member of the Russian special forces being escorted by robots and zombies.

While the world setting looks like a mix Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with the Verdansk map from Warzone. Beck said the concept art was an unused asset in the game and admitted that he had been allowed to share it publicly.

Naturally Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does not come with zombie mode. The game still comes with single player, multiplayer, and co-op modes in general before finally presenting a free battle royale mode called Warzone. Infinity Ward himself said that presenting a zombie mode would lose the realistic impression they built for the game.
