Considered Plagiarism Game, Genshin Impact Criticized by Zelda Fans in China

Starting from the action of pointing fingers, slamming the console, to cosplay?

Existence Genshin Impact lately it has given a satisfying impression for lovers of Action RPG games. How come ? This game comes with a gameplay display and visuals that are packaged quite ambitiously.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Made by a developer from China named MiHoYoAt first glance, the game Genshin Impact seems to remind many people of the phenomenal Zelda Breath of the Wild. Where coincidentally, an aroma of controversy immediately emerged which began to splatter from there.

It all started with the existence of Genshin Impact which was just showcased at the ChinaJoy event yesterday (a game exhibition event that is more or less similar to E3, but in China). There was a group of fans who seemed quite disappointed with the game. They even got to vent it by taking out the Nintendo Switch console to play the Zelda Breath of the Wild game or the physical game cover, then taking pictures with and “raising” a finger while showing the BOTW game/Switch console right in front of the Genshin Impact game booth.

Others, there are far more extreme. There was one fan who was willing to take out the PS4 console in his backpack and slam it straight on the floor.

For those of you who don’t know why Sony and the PS4 console are involved, the Genshin Impact game is basically the one that will also be released for the PS4 console. Even Sony itself has directly facilitated the booth of the Genshin Impact game to promote the game made by MiHoYo there.

According to Zelda fans, they were devastated to see Genshin Impact so blatantly copying the BOTW game. What they are most concerned about is the appearance of the UI inventory, the exploration gameplay in open and closed areas, to the attack mechanism of their enemies (some of them also complain about the similarity of the music). That in itself interestingly has been officially compiled and discussed by a thread starter from the Resetera forums.

Some similarities that are also a problem

A commentator on the CCN website also stated that the booth from the Genshin Impact game also happened to have a location directly opposite the Nintendo booth. Where Sony’s decision to deliberately display the Genshin Impact game instead of other games (such as FF7 Remake) seems to have given a very painful provocation to Switch gamers there.

Then, the existence of a photo of a Link cosplayer who can “stand up” at the Genshin Impact booth seems to be enough to strengthen the explanation of this ‘commenter’.

With this incident on the air in cyberspace, the question of plagiarism or not the game Genshin Impact has now officially become a new material for gamers and pros. There are some who feel that the Genshin Impact game is not too plagiarized, because the concept that is deliberately adapted is still at a reasonable level. However, there are also those who think that what MiHoYo is doing is not commendable for the development of the game industry.

Sony, Nintendo, and MiHoYo have yet to provide any response regarding this issue. Even so, the Genshin Impact Game itself is planned to be ready for release in around 2020 for PS4, PC, and Android/iOS consoles.
