Denuvo Coming to Android to "Help" Prevent Mobile Game Piracy

We may already be familiar with Denuvo DRM. Denuvo or also known as Denuvo Anti-Tamper is a DRM (Digital Rights Management) system developed by Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH, an Austrian software company, where this company is formed by Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation (Sony DADC) which is an electronics subsidiary. Japanese giant Sony, which is engaged in the production of Compact Disc, DVD, UMD, and Blu-ray discs.

The goal is to reduce piracy in video games, so that the health of trading a video game title remains stable and does not harm any game developer. But over the last year or so, many games using Denuvo with the aim of being “piracy safe” continued to crack quickly and left many paying customers for a game title somewhat disappointed that DRM had some issues depending on the implementation. One of the most recent examples is SEGA’s Yakuza 0 which has removed DRM in its post-launch game updates. It turned out that the removal of DRM from the game made game performance faster and lighter.

So now what are the promises and advantages that Denuvo offers to Developers?

At Gamescom 2019, Denuvo announced that it would release a new application, which is an Android game protection in the form of “Mobile Game Protection”. Of course this aims to prevent piracy and plagiarism on Android and can be implemented at the APK level.

This protection will also have detection for rooted devices (root support), and more. Because there are many games that directly don’t work on a rooted device, because so far Root is considered as the initial stage of “Cheating” in a Game that is on Android.

For iOs there have been no further announcements, and so far iOs may not get the development of the application, but what is unfortunate is, many are hoping for Denuvo in response to its protection that seems “Easy to break” in game titles that use its services, hope this is of course a solution to their services that guarantees a security against piracy of a game, but Denuvo here instead announces applications on different platforms, like they create new homework without completing old homework that has not been completed.
