Dev. Among Us Promises to Fight Cheaters
Released 2 years ago, Among Us is unexpectedly new boom now. And like other popular games, this game is being attacked by cheaters even though Among Us is not a competitive game at all.
We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.
The cheats that appear in this game start to vary, ranging from cheat nicknames, players who areeject suddenly for no reason, kill without cooldown, and much more. Innersloth, a studio consisting of only 3 people, began trying to overcome the increasing problem of cheaters.
“We will develop an account system as soon as possible so that we can have a better moderation and reporting system,” programmer Forest Willard told Kotaku. “We are also looking for help to make the server better at detecting and blocking hacks.”
Another viral game, Fall Guys, rewards players with crowns for winning games that can later be used to buy costumes, so there’s little reason for cheaters to cheat even though it sounds silly cheating in the game “casual” fun” like that game. Meanwhile, Among Us has no incentives at all. No prizes, no rank system implemented in this game. Then a big question mark arises why someone would cheat in a game where the fun comes from interacting, guessing, and making alibis like this.
The popularity of Among Us made Innersloth decide to cancel the sequel. They are focused on the first game and the content plans that have been worked on for the sequel will be carried over to the first game.
