Discounted Before Release, Borderlands 3 Temporarily Withdrawn from the Epic Games Store
With their first big discount event, the Epic Games Store is not only discounting games that have been released but also those that have not been released at all. This decision was certainly not received positively by several publishers, Paradox Interactive for example strongly rejected the decision from Epic Games and decided to withdraw the circulation of Vampire The Masquarade: Bloodlines 2 during the discount.

Shortly after this controversy with Paradox, 2K Games also didn’t seem to accept their giant game being discounted before release. Borderlands 3 – the game that will be released next September has been pulled off the discount that was applied to the game. This makes Borderlands 3, Vampire The Masquarade: Bloodlines 2 and Oxygen Not Included the 3 games that were pulled from this Mega Sale event. Games from Ubisoft are also not present at this mega sale, but this is more due to integration problems between EGS and Uplay which are still being fixed at this time.
No statement has come out from 2K Games or Gearbox yet, but this decision is understandable seeing the sizeable discount on games that have not been released is not something that publishers want, especially for AAA class games like Borderlands 3.
On the other hand, several other unreleased games still get discounts, such as Phoenix Point, Detroit: Become Human, Control, and others. Will these games follow in the footsteps of 2K Games and Paradox in the future?
