Doom Developer Says Battle Royale Is Not A New Innovation

Reported through an interview session with IGN, the co-creator from Doom, John Romero argues that genre battle royale is not a new innovation, he added that mode it can be said that it is improvisation from fashion deathmatch but with more players and a bigger map.

It’s just another mode of deathmatch. Not something new from the shooter type game. It’s just a shooter game that has a bigger map, and has a lot of players ending with a set time. That’s a cool ruleset for a deathmatch mode.” Romero said.

Apart from that, battle royale has indeed managed to become one of the game genres that many gamers are interested in after its arrival Playerunknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) in the past few years.
