The investment made by Sony Group Corporation is said to be a sign of the good relationship between the two companies and their shared mission to advance socially connected online technology, entertainment and services.
This is not the first time that Sony has provided a funding injection for Epic Games. Previously in July 2020, Sony Group Corporation had also invested USD 250 million or around 3.6 Trillion Rupiah to Epic Games to acquire a minority stake in the company.
Tim Sweeney as CEO and founder of Epic Games expressed his gratitude to the investors.
“We are very grateful to our new and existing investors who have been so supportive of our vision for Epic.
Their investment has greatly contributed to accelerating our performance in building a connected social aspect through Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys while helping developers and creators develop and distribute their games using the Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services, and the Epic Games Store.”
With the good relationship that has been established between Sony and Epic Games, what steps will the two take in the future? Interesting to wait.
