Red Velvet Cake Will Be The Name Of Android 11

As we know, Android was originally an operating system that used dessert names for each of their versions. At the end of last year, they decided to discontinue using food names for their android version.

Well, it was recently announced that Android 11 will still get a dessert name, namely Android 11 Red Velvet Cake. In accordance with the order of the previous versions, starting from Cupcakes, donuts, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, Kitkat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and finally Pie.

The use of the dessert name for the Android version has been discontinued to the public since last year. Even so, vice president of Android, Dave Burke, revealed that Google is still using it internally. For Android 10 itself, David revealed that the name of the dessert is “Quince Tart”.

Of course we shouldn’t get our hopes up and see “Red Velvet Cake” be used publicly. This is because Google has officially moved to using numbers in its naming, but “RVC” and “Red Velvet Cake” have become nicknames for Android 11 among the development team.

Android 11 itself is expected to be released at the end of 2020 if it refers to the leaks that had circulated some time ago.
