Tencent Prepares 2.36 Million Dollars For Honor Of Kings World Champion Cup Prize

Tencent planning to tie up a total prize money of 16 million RMB ($2.36 million USD) for tournament series Honor of Kings Cup 2019. Tencent stated that Honor of Kings World Champion Cup considered an “international level tournament” in the Honor of Kings tournament system.

  • Tencent has announced a total prize pool of $2.36 million for the 2019 Honor of Kings World Champion Cup. The winner of the tournament will get $1 million.
  • The tournament series will take place in three different cities including Seoul, South Korea; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Shenzhen, China.
  • The top two teams from Spring Korea and South Korea will be invited directly to the World Champions Cup.
    On May 5, Tencent Games announced plans for the 2019 Honor of Kings World Champion Cup.

The tournament series will be held in three different cities in China. From 10-21 July, the tournament group stage will be held in Seoul, South Korea; from 27 July to 3 August, the knockout stage will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and the Grand Final will be held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on August 10. The city of Shenzhen is also the headquarters of Tencent Holding.

Twelve teams will compete in this tournament and the winner will receive more than $1 million (42%) of the total prize pool. The top two teams from each Spring King Pro League (KPL) and Korea King Pro League (KRKPL) will be invited directly into the tournament. The remaining eight spots will be filled by four KPL teams and four KRKPL teams, with both regions hosting their own qualifiers. The KPL qualifiers will be held in Shanghai, China, from June 6-9. KRKPL qualification will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from 24 June to 1 July.

Tencent recently updated its Honor of Kings tournament system, adding four franchise teams to the KRKPL Spring including teams Europe Nova Sports, team GOG North America, team CW Hong Kong, and team Macau EMC.
