Even 9 years after its release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still a heavily modified game. Various mods ranging from cool to weird have appeared for this game since its release, and this mod is arguably in the first category.

Nucleus Co-op is a mod that turns Skyrim, which is predominantly single-player, into splitscreen multiplayer. This allows two players to adventure simultaneously.

To play splitsceen, you’ll need Skyrim Special edition, Skyrim Together via launchers like Harbor, and of course Nucleus. After downloading the script for Skyrim, you just need to run the Skyrim executable file with Nucleus, then press right CTRL and type 127.0.0.1 to connect you to an offline local server. The game will then start showing the second screen.

As you may have guessed, this mod is still very experimental and doesn’t work perfectly like existing splitscreen games. Therefore, you might lower your expectations while modders continue to develop mods.

Nucleus doesn’t only work on Skyrim, there are dozens of other games that you can play splitscreen with this mod. You can find out more in the following subreddit.
