Reporting from Gamerant, EA is confident about the future of BioWare despite receiving a lot of criticism. Previously, the developer of BioWare, which is a subsidiary of EA, has recently received quite a lot of criticism and bad reception. Mainly because of the failure of his two newest games, namely Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Coupled with the case of the termination of two staff, namely general manager Casey Hudson and Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah.

However, EA CEO Andrew Wilson, voiced confidence in the future of BioWare with EA. This was disclosed in the EA Q3 earnings call conference. During the conference an investor questioned the resignation of BioWare’s staff. Wilson himself commented that while from the outside it may seem that BioWare has run into some snags, the reality is that the studio has been exploring more innovative paths over the last few years.

“I think from the outside world there have been some mistakes in (BioWare) achievements over the last few years, but it’s because they push deeply for innovation and creativity, and we feel very, very confident about their future roadmap,” said Wilson. Not only that, Wilson mentioned two of BioWare’s biggest franchises, Dragon Age and Mass Effect, which have been planned for the future.

“In light of the departure of Casey and Mark, both of whom are good friends of mine, and we have the utmost respect for both of them,” Wilson added. “But this happens in the natural process of creative organization over time, and we are very pleased with the studio’s continued leadership.” Referring to the studio’s current leadership, Wilson referred to General Manager Samantha Ryan, Dragon Age Creative Director Matthew Goldman, and Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Lead Producer, Mike Gamble.

This statement is also supported by various BioWare plans. Starting with the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on May 14 this year. BioWare also reportedly has a veteran team working on the mysterious Mass Effect title and another team working on Dragon Age 4, which recently got a new cinematic teaser during December’s Game Awards. These various things will certainly determine the future of BioWare.

Therefore, the explanation above provides an overview of EA’s confidence in its subsidiary, BioWare. The future will probably tell how EA and BioWare respond to the criticism it receives. Especially if the plan has been successfully realized.
