Briefly, this eighth expansion opens a series of new zones also called Shadowlands, a realm or another world where the souls of the dead gather. Some of the main features offered include system updates leveling, access to the Death Knight class for some races, as well as the presence of areas dungeons and raid new. But the main content offered from this expansion is the presence of Covenants.

Covenants are easily understood as the groups that control the balance in the world of Shadowlands. They are Kyrian, Necrolord, Night Fae and Ventyr, where each group has different roles and responsibilities for the sustainability of Shadowlands. In the game, you are given the opportunity to join one of the Covenants.

Each Covenant has its own uniqueness which can later be applied to become special powers for your character, even offering different special abilities for all classes in World of Warcraft. The following is a brief explanation of each Covenant and what kind of content you can expect when exploring Shadowlands.

Kyrian

Holding control over the Bastion zone, Kyrian has the characteristics of an angel who upholds justice, humility, service and benevolence. Kyrian is described as an entity that guides the souls of the dead to the world of Shadowlands.

Kyrian has signature abilities named Summon Steward, where the steward will give you a Phial of Serenity which restores 20% of your character’s HP, and eliminates all status negatives such as Curse, Disease, Poison and Bleed.

Kyrian is also the only Covenant that has a “True Network” portal transport network system. Having the name Eternal Gateways, you can move from one area to another without the need to return to the Sanctum. Stewards can also issue Elysian Beacons which can be used to access Eternal Gateways from anywhere while in the Bastion zone.

Those of you who choose Kyrian will also gain access to complete the Path of Ascension challenge, a mini games in the form of boss-rush but in a dress vehicle combat. One other important thing from mini-game this is Ascension Crafting to unlock new bosses in Path of Ascension, as well as making various equipment new ones that will certainly help you in fighting these bosses

Necrolord

Holding control over the Maldraxxus zone, the Necrolords are described as entities that do not shy away from cruelty and prioritize strength above all else. This does not mean that the Necrolords are evil Covenants, but their identity as a military force tasked with protecting the Shadowlands from otherworldly threats.

Necrolords have signature abilities named Fleshcraft, a shield made of flesh and bone that was able to absorb damage corresponds to 20% of your character’s maximum HP for 2 minutes. Using this ability near corpses will strengthen your shield by a maximum of 50%.

Of all the existing Covenants, Necrolords has the least number of portal transportation networks, namely only three destinations. If you see lore-Basically, this was because Necrolords didn’t need weak members who depended too much on the portal called the Bone Deathgate to move around easily.

Joining the Necrolords will give you access to Abominable Stitching. It is easily understood as an activity where you will collect materials to build a body that will be inhabited by a soul. Later, the soul will become companion who can accompany your adventures in Shadowlands.

Night Fae

While Kyrian is known as the protector and guide of the souls of the dead, the Night Fae, who controls the Ardenweald zone, has the same task but more for the souls who have ties to the forces of nature.

Night Fae have signature abilities named Soulshape, where your character can turn into Vulpin instantly and teleport forward. It doesn’t end there, movement speed Your character will also increase by 50% for 12 seconds after activating Soulshape.

Night Fae has a portal transportation network called Fae Circles with the widest and most destinations compared to other Covenants. It has 12 destinations, two of which are even available to the Deep Unknown and the Great Unknown areas in Shadowlands.

Joining Night Fae will give you access to The Queen’s Conservatory. Mini-game this is a bit similar to the farming activities featured in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The difference is that you are tasked with finding, guiding and nurturing lost souls in Shadowlands.

Ventyr

Having control over the Revendreth zone, Ventyr, who is described as having physical characteristics like this vampire, has a role as a “punisher” for souls burdened by defects in character and behavior in his previous life. Although it seems to have a negative connotation, the punishment handed down by Ventyr is also an effort to cleanse these souls so that they can continue their eternal life in Shadowlands.

Ventyr has signature abilities called Door of Shadows, an ability where your character can move to the targeted area.

A bit like Necrolords, Ventyr also has a small number of portal transportation networks, which are only four destinations.

Joining Ventyr will give you access to mini-game Ember Court. An activity where you will be given the responsibility of throwing a party for the famous NPCs in Shadowlands. Every week, you will be given a list of NPCs that will be present at Ember Court. Success mini-game this also depends on your ability to organize the party according to the preferences of the invited guests. This includes the entertainment provided, the working staff, party decorations, to the food and drinks served. You will of course also attend the party and chat with the guests for better results.

You need to first complete the circuit storyline quests Shadowlands before being allowed to join one of the Covenants. Quest This will of course also invite you to visit each of the Covenant’s zones and headquarters to get to know them firsthand. Not only that, you also need to reach the maximum level in Shadowlands, which is level 60 before you can join one of the Covenants. In addition, after completing quest Shadowlands main character, your other characters in the same account can immediately join one of the Covenants without the need to run quest main story again.

Joining one of the Covenants is certainly not the end of the content of the Shadowlands expansion. In addition to access to mini-game and new abilities for your character, there are many other activities that are no less interesting to earn more items interesting features, such as Transmog and exclusive Mounts and Pets from each Covenant.

Each Covenant has a series campaign exclusives that you can run after joining them. Each campaign present in nine chapters, where seven of them will give rewards in the form of a Transmog Set according to the Covenant you follow. Other Transmog Sets can also be obtained by running other activities, or buying them directly using the Anima Reservoir (in-game currency Shadowlands only) and Grateful Offering.

Besides campaign, you are also encouraged to develop the Covenant’s Sanctum of your choice. Increasing the level of the Sanctum is arguably quite important so that you can use features such as the Transportation Network to move places quickly, and the Anima Conductor to access various quest new and face new enemies.

One thing that is no less important is the Renown system, a kind of gauge trust or your relationship with the Covenant of your choosing. Some features and activities will be locked if your character’s Renown is still low. There are three ways to get Renown; operate campaign and finish two weekly quest.

Finally, you are also given the freedom to change Covenants. You will of course lose access to special abilities as well items like the Covenant exclusive Transmog you follow. Joining a new Covenant is easy, but rejoining a Covenant you’ve been in before is even more complicated, i.e. running a series quest for two weeks in a row.
