Trying Resident Evil 3 Remake Beta – Such An Eerie Enthusiasm!
Reviving Resident Evil through a remake has indeed proven effective for Capcom. Many fans ended up being satisfied with what they did in Resident Evil 2 Remake last year. Returning to meet the demands of the fans, Capcom finally continued its steps to remake its third title. Through various screenshots and trailers that have been circulating, Resident Evil 3 Remake does look very promising.

But is it true? A few days ago Capcom has released a demo of RE 3 Remake which can be sampled for free. The 20 minute demo was enough to give us an impression of what interesting things Capcom wants to offer through its ambitious remake this time. And here are the impressions of the demos we’ve played.
Keep It Grip As Expected
20 minutes is certainly a very short time for a demo, not too much that can be extracted indeed. However, from the demo, we have quite captured the outline of what Capcom wants to show. The taste of horror and survival is thick as a foundation, they are able to present it nicely through the demo. For those of you who expect RE 3 Remake to be as gripping as the second series, this time you won’t be disappointed.
There is no difficulty option in this demo, but the level of difficulty presented can be said to be quite challenging. The survival element in this demo is really quite emphasized, where you have to always save ammo and do good item management. Of course, you also have to always be observant of your surroundings, because often there are various hidden items.
In addition, being observant is also very important to take care of yourself, because Capcom inserts a lot of “jumpscare” by placing zombies that can suddenly pounce on you. Another advantage of being observant is that you can defeat zombies easily without having to waste a lot of ammo. In this demo, there are many red barrels available in certain locations, by luring zombies to approach the barrel, you can shoot the barrel and immediately kill a lot of zombies with one shot.
More Intense gameplay action
Broadly speaking, the basic gameplay offered is still similar to RE 2 Remake, but this time there are a few elements of action that are more pronounced thanks to Jill’s ability as a member of the special force. The normal zombies that exist can be said to be faster and aggressive than the previous series, they have faster movements with a wider attack range.
But as we said before, Jill has a more “expert” ability than Leon and Claire, this time she is equipped with dodge and roll abilities. Where when there are zombies attacking Jill can do a more flexible dodge movement. A little more good news, although the health of the zombies can be said to be thick, but with 3-4 headshot shots, ordinary zombies will immediately fall and can be directly executed manually with a knife.
There is another little element of interesting surprise, where randomly zombie heads have a durability that is sometimes very different. Sometimes you can shoot with a single bullet and instantly destroy the zombie’s head easily, but this only happens randomly and can’t be done continuously.
Talking about Resident Evil is certainly incomplete if you don’t talk about the puzzle elements. Indeed, there is very little that can be discussed regarding the puzzle in this short demo. Still as interesting as before, a puzzle that is shown requires you to always be observant of your surroundings. A safe that stores weapon attachments you have to open through the “code” listed in the unexpected area.
Nemesis More Brutal than Mr. X
The most interesting thing to discuss next is of course the existence of Nemesis as a killing machine like Mr. X in RE 2 Remake. Since the beginning of its appearance in the trailer and screenshots, this monstrous giant monster has provoked a lot of curiosity. So how terrible is this Nemesis figure? We can say much more than Mr. X.
Unlike Mr. X who has slow motion and is “a little” more relaxed, this Nemesis figure actually feels much more brutal and gripping. He has a very fast movement, besides running, he can also jump and shoot like a rocket until it comes right behind you. He also has a super strong punch like Mr. X that can immediately knock Jill down with one hit.
The extreme speed is still lacking over power? Namesis also has terrible tentacles that can easily knock you down from a distance when trying to escape. The last thing that’s even crazier is that Namesis also has the power to attach parasites to the heads of ordinary zombies and turn them into much more dangerous ones.
Same as Mr. X, during gameplay the Nemesis figure is also unkillable aka cannot be killed. All you can do is stun to give yourself time to escape. Shooting Nemesis in the head or attacking her with heavier weapons such as shotguns and grenades can be effective enough to temporarily stop Nemesis from moving.
More Captivating Visualization
Present on the current gen platform, of course the visual presentation is also good for him, and fortunately, Capcom is able to present it very well. Back supported by the RE Engine, Resident Evil 3 Remake appears with visual quality that is very pleasing to the eye.
The textures, shadows, & environments that are displayed look detailed, and of course the gore effect as one of the main attractions also looks very detailed. Interestingly, the character models presented also look realistic, the motion capture technology implemented is able to bring the faces of the models in the real world into the video game scene. The facial expressions of the existing characters look very natural and more expressive.
So far, there are only a few things that can be discussed through this short Resident Evil 3 Remake demo. We ourselves believe there are still a myriad of features and interesting things that Capcom is still keeping and waiting to be tested on the upcoming full release date. As far as the demo impression that we feel, Resident Evil 3 Remake feels very promising while still presenting a nostalgic sensation in its gameplay and visuals that are much more captivating.
Resident Evil 3 Remake itself will only be released on April 3, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, & Switch. Are you ready?
