AC: Valhalla Initially Only Presents Eivor Women, But Ubisoft Executives Rejected

Ubisoft’s behind-the-scenes has started to become a topic of discussion in recent weeks, with executives reportedly involved in sexual scandals, various other information being spread on social media, one of which is the superior’s decision to reject the idea of several games having female protagonists.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Strengthening the last issue, an illustrator who had worked with Ubisoft received confirmation from one of the employees there. From what he got, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was supposed to only tell the story of female Eivor, but the idea was rejected and in the end it was revised to Eivor can be changed to male or female.

The same thing happened in the previous series starting from Syndicate, Origins and also Odyssey. The three games were originally planned to only tell the story of a female protagonist, but were rejected and the idea was revised.

According to the employees’ claims, the executive forced the employees to include a male protagonist as well because having a female protagonist would not sell well in the market. Eivor itself is actually a woman’s name in Scandivania, not a single man uses that name.

Whatever happens, Eivor is now gender-changeable and won’t affect the gameplay or narrative in Valhalla. The majority of players may not really care about this issue as long as Valhalla offers an interesting gaming experience.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will release on November 17, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will follow when the console becomes available.
