Best Game 2020 and Ayyadana Akbar's Choice GOTY

2020 is coming to an end, many media outlets or private individuals close the year by reminiscing about some of their favorite things this year including video games. Although most of their tastes are “similar” because there are many games released this year with awards or awards that I personally think are too general.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

But I believe that everyone has their own “golden child” who may be “not or less worthy” to announce to the world that their game of taste is GOTY or the best in 2020.

I personally feel that 2020, which is already full of problems, doesn’t have a game that deserves to be on GOTY’s radar for the same The Last of Us Part II. Even Cyberpunk 2077 only late and become a potential game that can compete with the game made by Naughty Dog ended tragically. CD Projekt failed miserably due to erratic and unrealistic management in every decision. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, I don’t want to speculate on this kind of frying to gain website traffic, which as far as I know someone out there is also doing it. I also don’t want to know whether it’s because of investors who are pushing for a quick release, or not, what’s clear is that the fact that they failed with various demands from investors is an unavoidable reality.

But let’s take a break from that problem for a moment and move on to my version of the best 2020 game. Yes, this is solely because I entered it myself and maybe you won’t accept it if the following list of games is my version of the best this year.

No, no, my background as a writer in this media has nothing to do with this. Don’t let you have thoughts, “Wow, that’s a great choice, I also want to include this, I agree with your opinion, I want to try playing it ah”.

I don’t have the right to influence you, even though in fact it may directly or indirectly influence you. Given the nature of the media, that’s usually how it is. But I believe that “for you it’s your choice, for me it’s mine”. Our tastes are not the same and don’t force anything to be the same. I’m just a person who likes to play and explore new games that a lot of Indonesians didn’t play from the 90’s like some “weird” games that when you guys really like it Point Blank and Ragnarok Online 2 in Indonesia, but I’ve tasted and tried it Phantasy Star Online 2, S4 League (Before LYTO brought here), Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE (It’s closed after being transferred to ATLUS), Mobile Suit Gundam Online, Vindictus, Blade & Soul, Ace Online, War Thunder same Navy Field 2.

Hey, why are you talking about that? Yes anyway all my lists are very subjective and be prepared to be disappointed and disagree or maybe beat me if your favorite game is not on this list. I also don’t recommend you to buy it, because this is purely subjective, but if you like it you can buy it.

Oh yes, of course the list of games below was released in 2020 and I’ve played them all. I didn’t include a variety of cool games that I might have also played because I think it’s normal. Including Final Fantasy VII Remake which in fact, in my personal opinion, does not deserve to be included in the award category before everything is completed.

Okay, no need to go further, here are the best games of 2020 and my version of GOTY.

Best 1: Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town

Story Of SeasonsThe best game personally in my opinion the first one is Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town released on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam this year. The gameplay is a bit casual, but this game is one of the best in my eyes.

Actually Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town This is a remake of one of Natsume’s games, namely Harvest Moon in the heyday of GameBoy Advance. For those of you who don’t know, Natsume is now split into two teams, one Marvelous and one Natsume.

Natsume himself owns the full rights to the title Harvest Moon, while Marvelous who didn’t lose his mind made his own title, namely Bokujou Monogatari which is actually literally translated into English as “A Farm’s Story”. But they think in the official translation as Story of Seasons.

Marvelous is a group of people who make Harvest Moon Back to Nature on PS1, a remake of the GameBoy Advance version. No wonder they always make farming simulation games that are not only very neat in terms of gameplay, but also very interesting in terms of story and quality of life aka content. Including Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.

If I have to say what this game is like, it’s simply a remake Harvest Moon Back to Nature and Harvest Moon for Girls PS1 version combined into one.

Talking about nostalgia, this Marvelous concoction is already standard and it seems that it can never be timeless. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town bring everything you like from Harvest Moon: back to Nature. From waifu like Popuri, Karen, Elli, and others, to husbandos like Cliff and Doc. Marvelous even added new characters and story updates.

The game is still fun and familiar for you, maybe like me, I’ve played it Harvest Moon: Back to Nature until I have children and can walk. Nostalgic appeal and upgrades in terms of visuals, content, and stories make this game automatically included in my personal version of the best 2020

Best 2: Yakuza: Like a Dragon / Yakuza 7

Yakuza Like A Dragon 36Yakuza So turn-based? Ryu ga Gotoku Studio is crazy?!” maybe that’s how the fans feel when they see the existence Yakuza 7 or its official English title, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. But this innovation (or setback? I said innovation) makes me personally fall in love with the game even more.

We are no longer faced with the main character “manly” ala Kiryu, but a slengean, full of high imagination, and of course physically strong named Kasuga Ichiban. The setting is also far after the incident in Yakuza 1-6 namely in 2019-2020 around that year.

As usual, the charm of Yakuza is the story. The thing that is also not forgotten by Like a Dragon. The premise is very neatly presented. You will experience Ichiban’s life when he became a member of the Yakuza until he finally had to leave after he replaced his boss’s men in prison.

After he leaves and is disowned, he must find a decent job and meet new friends and of course face new conflicts that can only be resolved by fighting. The story is neat with every intrigue of the existing characters will make you who didn’t care before, so you really love the characters.

This game automatically becomes one of the best games in my version because not only the story is really cool with all the stupidity that often makes me laugh at every moment. But the turn-based RPG mechanics coupled with very creative real-world objects.

Of course they wouldn’t have been able to achieve all of this without the help of the team from Square-Enix who have done a great job of helping them. It’s no wonder they put easter eggs Dragon Quest as Kasuga’s imagination while fighting against his enemies.

Best 3: Neighbors Back from Hell

Neighbors Back From Hell CoverThe third best game, in my personal opinion, is the mediocre game Neighbors Back from Hell. If you’re as old as me and born between 90-94’s, then you’ll know how fun this game is. But if you are young, then let me tell you about the golden age when I was young.

Before telling the story, it’s better if I explain more clearly what it’s like Neighbors Back from Hell that. This game is a remastered version of the game titled Neighbors From Hell and Neighbors From Hell 2: On Vacation. In the past, the game was made by JoWooD and published by THQ Nordic (previously it was called THQ).

franchise Neighbors From Hell it relates to Woody, the main character of the game who is disturbed by the arrival of his neighbor Mr. Insolent Rottweiler. His neighbor always harassed Woody which finally made him have an idea to take revenge on him.

Woody then called the TV station to make a program “to prank his neighbors” until he became angry and clearly. In the second series of games, you don’t just do Mr. Rottweiler only, but also his girlfriend named Olga which is certainly more difficult than the first series.

The gameplay is really simple but tricky, where you have to look for anything from your home or place of action that you can use to prank your prey: Mr. Rottweiler and his girlfriend Olga.

The activities of these two enemies are usually rotation from A to B to C and so on. For example, after watching TV, he takes a beer, keeps petting a pet bird, continues to iron, continues to feed fish, returns to watching TV, and so on. You can’t be caught by both of them if it turns out that you are the culprit. The gameplay is more or less like the video below.

If you manage to make them angry, then you succeed in the event, otherwise if you are caught and beaten, you lose. In the original series, if you lose the event ends, but in the remaster the developer gives three lives to try again.

Same like Story of Seasons, this game not only sells nostalgia for those who have played it, but also sells uniqueness that never exists in modern games today. I hope they continue with more creative ideas and modern jokes in the next iteration.

GOTY 2020 – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

It’s time for us to go to my personal version of GOTY 2020 and the winner—it didn’t win, but let’s just say so. GOTY 2020 my version fell on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which even though it’s not included in many categories in the award, because it’s been tied up with several games that actually can’t be on the same level Valhalla.

Well, this game has fallen deep into the trap of RPG and is more like Witcher 3 but taste Assassin’s Creed. But Valhalla become one of the games that has everything you like about RPGs with complete and dense storytelling. The world is not as big and wide Odyssey which was the predecessor, but Ubisoft wrapped it like rice cake in banana leaves, really tight.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a “penance” (cie elah in the language) Ubisoft for the two series after Syndicate which, of course, reaped a ridiculous “controversy” between fans who just joined in and didn’t understand the story (aren’t you following the times, don’t you? Why don’t you just play games, you don’t read the action), due to the absence of… hidden blades, pfft!

In Valhalla, you will be able to enjoy all the elements that appeared in the series Assassin’s Creed. From stealth mechanics, slashing action, to long-range attacks, as well as more flexible warfare. All entertainment or entertainment is also included here, the map is so tight that you might be confused about which activity to choose. Players who love RPGs will be very spoiled by the features, which I personally think are complete and satisfying. Not a story that has a fantastic flow. 60-80 hours it seems impossible to get platinum.

Those are the best games of 2020 and my choice of GOTY. Maybe some of you agree with me, but I’m sure many don’t because this is very subjective.

Actually, I don’t want to write long for this article, but it’s been a long time because I really want to write freely, okay? As the saying goes: Rice has become porridge, and porridge has become dung that is thrown away and flushed in the sewer.

Alright, alright, now I’m asking again. So, what games do you personally think fall into the best category of 2020? And in your opinion, who this year deserves to be GOTY?

As usual, you can give your opinion via disqus below or maybe in the comments when this article is shared on Facebook.
