Owned by Tencent Games, TiMi Studios is the developer behind amazing games like Honor of Kings and Call of Duty Mobile. 2020 was a good year for the developer with a head office in China. Based on an exclusive report from Reuters, one “insider” leaked that TiMi Studios earned US$10 billion in revenue or around Rp. 145 trillion in 2020.

If the leaked information is true, then TiMi Studios is currently the largest game developer in the world. In other words, the amount of revenue earned by TiMi Studios could easily help them to move away from the mobile game market and compete on a larger platform for producing AAA games.

Tencent itself generated US$23 billion or around Rp. 333 trillion for online game revenue in 2020. The fantastic income was achieved by the accumulation of several game developers under their banner. TiMi Studios is one of them and reportedly accounts for around 40% of Tencent’s total profits.

The success achieved by TiMi Studios and Tencent as parent companies is not surprising. Many major studios contacted Tencent for assistance in the process of adapting PC or console games to mobile platforms. Tencent is even reportedly planning to set up more studios outside of China with a mission to create original games that will attract more global players.
