Telkom Officially Unblocks Netflix Today, Indihome and Telkomsel Customers Can Be Relieved

A good news came from one of the largest internet service providers in Indonesia, namely Telkom. The reason is, starting today, Tuesday (7/7/2020) has officially unblocked access to one of the largest video streaming services, namely Netflix.

With this unblocking, of course, internet network users from the Telkom group such as Indihome and Telkomsel can access Netflix easily without the help of additional tools such as VPN.

Telkom has also confirmed the unblocking of Indihome access on its internet network. According to Telkom’s representative, Telkom’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Arif Prabowo. The opening of Netflix access cannot be separated from the streaming platform’s approach to suit the demands of the Indonesian market.

“Telkom appreciates the change in approach taken by Netflix for the Indonesian market and therefore provides the opportunity for TelkomGroup customers to be able to access a variety of entertainment content,” said Arif in his official statement, Tuesday (7/7/2020).

Currently, Netflix has launched several features that can be used to control and filter shows that are not suitable for minors (parental control).

Netflix is also said to have been willing to follow the rules that have been made by the Indonesian government. Like they promised to hear and resolve complaints from the government or the competent regulators within 24 hours.

Netflix has also agreed to a commitment to compliance with the “Self Regulatory Code for Subscription Video on Demand Industry in ASEAN”. A commitment that prevents Netflix from broadcasting prohibited content includes content that violates copyright, contains child pornography, terrorism and violates Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and that discredits certain community groups.
