Potato PCs will be able to enjoy Fortnite without a hitch.

Unfortunately, this cannot be enjoyed by some players with low PC specifications or the cool language of potato PCs. Developers responded to this by making a lighter version of the game. Just say it PUBG Lite which is a standalone game that is lighter and on a different server than the original game.
This also seems to be done Fortnite Battle Royale for the sake of attracting more players to play it.
Epic Games announced that they will be adding a “Performance Mode” for Fortnite Battle Royale and Creative Mode. This feature will make the game lighter and can be turned on or off in the game without the need to download another version like PUBG Lite. The difference is, players must restart the game after turning it on or off.
When released later, Performance Mode Fortnite will increase the framerate and reduce the load time of the game. Players can also turn off the option to install high-resolution textures via Epic Launcher and save only 14GB of games on the HDD or SSD.
Epic Games doesn’t provide further details about the mode, but provides some examples of fps from low vs performance mode on a laptop in 720p resolution. planning to start the alpha of performance mode tomorrow.
