His success for Ryugagotoku Studio also released a spin-off version of the game with the title Ishin and Kenzan which tells the historical version of Yakuza which was only released in Japan. However, SEGA’s doubts about the Japanese feudal theme made them reluctant to release these two series in English and focus on working on the main iteration. The good news, everything changed since they saw Ghost of Tsushima very successful in the western market.

Through his interview with JPGames.de, the head of Ryugagotoku Studio, Daisuke Sato explained that he wanted Yakuza Ishin and Kenzan translated into English. According to Sato, the battle mechanics of the two are the best in the series, so he would like to translate them into English if given the chance.

Sato continued that since the game is almost seven years old, if this is realized they will do a remake instead of having to implement porting. “This is a difficult decision,” he added.

Not only Yakuza Ishin and Kenzan, Sato explained that if they were going to do the same with Yakuza: Dead Souls, then it will be a more difficult job. Not only translating, they also have to change all their systems from PSP to today’s platforms.

At the end of the interview, Sato continued that they wouldn’t be releasing a series Yakuza on one console only in the future. This is because they themselves want gamers in the west to get many opportunities to play their games. Therefore, the SEGA franchise will be released globally on multiplatforms in the future.

I can’t promise anything, but from a business perspective, we want to present the game to all players in the most optimal form.

franchise Yakuza currently has gone to other platforms besides PlayStation. SEGA leaves only Yakuza 6 which is planned to be released next month on PC as well as Xbox One/Series X/S. Temporary Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon now it can be enjoyed on all platforms.

What do you think about Daisuke Sato’s statement? Will you wait for attendance Yakuza Ishin and Kenzan if they translate it in English?
