Increasingly Rare, Nintendo Switch Price in Indonesia Increases 2x!
The prices of Switch games have also skyrocketed
The momentum of working at home aka WFH and also the increasing number of people who obey the government’s call to stay at home certainly makes people initially think that they need entertainment at home. This of course causes an increase in people’s interest in video games, and with sales of video games and their devices increasing sharply this makes sellers have to make adjustments to the prices of their merchandise.
We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.
The most impacted, of course, is the Nintendo Switch console, which is currently on the rise and is one of the most popular consoles today. We certainly have known that in foreign countries such as the United States itself this scarcity has occurred even since 2 weeks ago. And in our country, finally starting to feel the same impact because Gamebrott’s monitoring of existing online shops began to set prices around IDR 7,000,000, there were even some sellers who had set prices up to 9 million IDR!
By calculation, this Nintendo Switch console has now increased by 175% and even 200% from the original price which was in the range of Rp. 4,500,000. This, of course, is due to dwindling stock, increasingly difficult shipments of goods from abroad, but with demand from the market that continues to increase dramatically.
An even crazier rise was experienced by the latest Switch game and is now also in high demand, namely Animal Crossing New Horizon. Provides a light game that many people can enjoy even for those who have just started playing games. And being one of the main games that can also be used as a place for social interaction as long as they are isolated at home makes the price of this game skyrocket!
The original price of the physical version of Animal Crossing itself is in the 600 thousand range. But again, from Gamebrott’s monitoring, online sellers now dare to set a price of around Rp. 1,500,000, or you could say the game has increased by 250% from the original price. This unreasonable increase in the physical version may have something to do with collectibles, and Switch owners still have the option of getting “sane” prices through their digital stores.
This increase itself seems to be inevitable because apart from market demand and increasingly limited stock, Nintendo itself does not have an official representative or distributor in Indonesia who is able to stabilize the price. But again, the phenomenon of “price spikes” is not only experienced in Indonesia but also almost throughout the world today. So it seems we don’t need to be surprised if this pandemic doesn’t end soon then the prices of existing gaming devices will also continue to rise.
