Mario Kart Tour Review - Just For The Money!

Who are gamers who don’t know about this one game. Yes, Mario Kart, One of the game series from Nintendo which is quite popular in all circles. The series, which was originally released in 1992, is related to racing cars with cute characters from the Mario series, which often become games that are played in their spare time. And now, the game is available on the mobile platform with the title Mario Kart Tour.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

So, What is Mario Kart Tour?

Basically, this one game is the same as its predecessor game series. Where players will race with other players on a track. Players can use various characters in the mario series such as Toad, Princess Peach, Luigi, Mario, and many more. It also has a variety of tracks, where each track is quite unique and has a variety of themes. Where every 2 weeks, Mario Kart Tour will replace its track with another track so that the players don’t feel bored with the existing track.

This Mario Kart Tour game is able to provide the experience of playing this very popular Mario Kart game on Mobile. Nintendo is able to develop games that are similar in terms of graphics, tracks and playing experience into this one mobile game. Where players will compete with each other, in a track with 2 rounds. Players can use in-game items to block the pace of other players to become 1st place in 1 race match. there are various features that are present in this Mario Kart Tour game, such as hidden roads that can be used by players. Boost, and Jump boost when performing certain moves in the game.

Difficult Control Case maker

Apart from the many features that are quite similar to the previous Mario Kart series games, Nintendo should really maximize the games they make. As a gamer, I myself have never felt so frustrated just to change the direction of the steering wheel from Mario Kart Tour. Mario kart has 4 control aids:

  • Manual Drift: Players only need to slide and touch the screen to drift, which in turn can make the character emit ultra Mini-turbos when drifting.
  • Smart Steering : Steering the character left and right will be easier with the help of this mode.
  • Auto-Item : When you open the item box, the previous item will be automatically used
  • Gyro Handling: You only need to rotate your HP to change the direction of your character left or right.

Well, what’s worse, most of the control assistance is not very useful. With Gyro Handling, if the device / HP you have is not in the middle during the game, the character you move will move somewhere. For Manual Drift, sometimes the screen you have is not responsive so that the movement is automatically aborted, even though you need ultra mini turbos after doing the movement. And smart steering which doesn’t seem to help anything.

It’s possible to play this game, players must get training from Nintendo directly through superior schools or over time players will become more adept at controlling the characters in the Mario Kart Tour game. However, considering this game is a mobile game that can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere, control is one of the important things and Nintendo should be aware of this.

Free2Play < Pay2Win

This Mario Kart Tour game is indeed a game that can be played for free by the players. Where players only need to download the game on the Appstore or on the Google play store, and run the game to play it.

However! Nintendo apparently hides various aspects of Pay2Win in the Free2Play game. As is known, each character will have their own abilities, for example, Dry Bones which has the Triple Green Shell ability to shoot 3 green shells in a row, and Bowser who has a Bowser Shell to fire a large green shell that will defeat the enemy in front of you. But to get these characters, players must do “Gacha” especially from characters with great abilities that will be harder to find.

Worse yet, that’s not the only aspect of Pay2Win provided by Nintendo. Apart from characters, the tracks in Mario Kart Tour are also used as aspects of Pay2Win. Where, each track turns out to have a superior character determined by Nintendo itself. Yes, you read right not every character, but every track. So, if in one track players can use Toad to get 2 items in 1 item box, players can use Bowser to get 3 items in 1 item box. Nintendo also provides Mobile customization, and Glider with skills that will be very helpful in playing the game. It’s really quite interesting isn’t it.

New Mode = New Subscription = More Money!

In Mario Kart Tour, players can choose 4 modes, starting from 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and finally 200cc. Where for layman’s language is easy, normal, hard, and very hard game modes. And in the game, players must complete the initial mode to unlock the next mode. Except for 150cc mode where players must pass lvl 3 first to unlock it.

But not so for the last 200cc mode, where players who want to try the hard mode. Must follow the subscription given by Nintendo for $ 4.99 or around Rp. 90.000,-. Of course it’s unfair, isn’t it, after the player has to use his money in the unclear gacha feature of the game, then the player must again spend a bunch of pocket money he has to unlock the feature accompanied by the lure of prizes that will be given along with the subscription.

Conclusion

In general, the gameplay of Mario Kart Tour is able to make the players reminisce about the old series of games. But it’s a bit disappointing if Nintendo uses the pay2win system into the series that the fans glorify. Coupled with the control that is so difficult in the game tells that Nintendo should have spent more time developing this Mario Kart Tour game.

Of course, mobile games are made to earn money, and Nintendo is giving away this Mario Kart Tour game for free to its fans. But does the pay2win feature in the game really need to be emphasized in the game. And actually the players themselves will also spend their money on things like skins and other cosmetic items such as accessories if the game they play is really good.

It’s a shame that because of this Mario Kart tour, players are a little skeptical about the Mobile games that Nintendo will develop in the future. Well, how about your own experience in playing the newly released Mario Kart Tour game on the market? Do you have the same experience or do you even have a good experience playing the game?
