Qualcomm Releases Cheapest 5G Chipset Snapdragon 690

Qualcomm announced the latest chipset for its 600 series that comes with 5G network support. The latest chipset from Qualcomm is the Snapdragon 690.

The Snapdragon 690 is built on the 8nm process, this chipset is the successor to the Snapdragon 675 and is paired with the X51 modem. This chipset is part of Qualcomm’s intention to make 5G more affordable for consumers around the world.

For connectivity, Snapdragon 690 will support SA, NSA, and 5G band networks globally. Not only that, Qualcomm also said that this chipset will support screens with refresh rate technology reaching 120 Hz.

Snapdragon 690 also supports HDR10, HDR10+ with 10-bit color display and Rec2020 Color gamut.

However, Snapdragon 690 will not support mmWave technology, mmWave technology support will only remain on the 7G chipset series 7 and series 8. For now it is like on the Snapdragon 865 and 765G chipsets.

In terms of performance, Snapdragon 690 is expected to have 20% faster CPU speed and 60% faster graphics performance compared to Snapdragon 675.

In addition to performance, the Snapdragon 690 also enables HDR video recording at 4K @ 30fps resolution and supports stills up to 192MP. Other features that the Snapdragon 690 brings are the Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec and Quick Charge 4.0+.
