Qualcomm Releases Snapdragon 870, Successor to Snapdragon 865 Plus??

Qualcomm, the American semiconductor company has just announced a new flagship chipset, the chipset is Snapdragon 870.

They announced the chipset after a few months ago announcing the Snapdragon 888 at an event in the United States. With the release of Snapdragon 870, Qualcomm now has 2 flagship chipsets for the upper class.

Slightly different from Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm makes Snapdragon 870 using almost the same technology as Snapdragon 865 Plus which was released last year.

This chipset is built on a 7 (nm) fabrication process with improved performance over its predecessor. On the speed side, for example, if the Kryo 585 CPU processor clock speed on the Snapdragon 865 is 2.84 GHz and 3.1 GHz for the “Plus” model. Then (CPU) Kryo 585 Prime on Snapdragon 870 becomes higher, to 3.2 GHz.

For other specifications, both Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865 Plus and Snapdragon 870 have the same specifications. Some of these specifications are the Adreno 650 graphics processor (GPU) that supports gameplay with frame rates up to 144 fps, True 10-bit HDR gaming, Snapdragon X55 modem chip that supports 5G connectivity, and so on.

According to information, several vendors are ready to release phones with Snapdragon 870 in Q1 2021. Among them are Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo, iQOO and One Plus.

Reporting from The Verge Wednesday (20/1/2021), later phones that use this chipset are said to be sold at prices below 800 dollars or Rp. 11 million.
