Qualcomm Will Release Snapdragon 888 Pro In Q3 This Year

Qualcomm is now said to be preparing its latest chipset, Snapdragon 888 Plus. This chipset is an update of the snapdraon 888 variant which was released at the end of 2020.

In fact, now the chipset has been tested by several smartphone vendors from China. This information was leaked by one of the famous tech leakers Chat Digital Station through his Weibo account.

He also mentioned that a smartphone with Snapdragon 888 Pro will be launched starting in the third quarter of this year.

When compared to the snapdragon 865+ series, there will be more vendors who will release phones with the 888 pro chip.

For its own specifications, Cortex-X1 which is the main core of Snapdragon 888 Pro will have a higher clock speed than Snapdragon 888. Meanwhile, other cores will have the same clock speed.

There will be no upgrade in the GPU sector, because the clock speed is already quite high. This is not surprising because this has become a tradition for Qualcomm’s flagship chipsets.

The Digital Chat Station does not provide details on the frequency difference between the two chipsets. Because if you look at the previous generation, the Snapdragon 865 Plus is not just an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865.

It is also unknown whether on the snapdragon 888 Pro, Qualcomm has succeeded in overcoming the overheating issue that has resurfaced on the snapdragon 888.
