Cyberpunk 2077 was just released a few days ago and sales so far seem to be so successful that the studio has paid off its development and marketing costs just from pre-orders. In terms of reviews, the game received a majority positive reception from the media, but technical problems and a bad console port still haunt the reputation of this game.
Reporting from Bloomberg, CD Projekt Red is rumored to have changed the structure of the distribution of bonuses to employees. Now all development teams will get bonuses for their hard work regardless of how good the reviews get.
“We originally had a bonus system that focused on game ratings and release dates, but after consideration, we believe that the rules of action are unfair for several reasons,” Cyberpunk 2077 studio head and director Adam Badowski wrote in an email sent to each staff member. “We underestimate the length and complexity of making [Cyberpunk 2077] come true, and all of you continue to do everything in your power to deliver this ambitious and special game.”
According to Bloomberg, CDPR initially promised a bonus if the game reached 90 on Metacritic. This figure was achieved for the PC version, but for the console version it was the opposite. The game received very bad reviews because the port was full of performance and visual problems not to mention the bugs that still flooded the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 development may have been completed, but the developer is currently still busy with the game project to fix all the technical problems in the game. This game is also planned to have a big expansion like The Witcher 3.
