[Rumor] Sony wants to buy Konami's rights to Silent Hill and Metal Gear
Plus don’t miss Castlevania
Rumors regarding the return of the series Silent Hill has recently begun to emerge. Apart from the news that two Silent Hill game projects will be published, involvement Sony there also seems to add an interesting surprise spice. In previous rumors, we had reported that the project for the horror game was supposed to be a form of collaboration between the parties Konami and Sony.
We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.
If you look at Sony, which is basically not the owner of the Silent Hill game IP, of course not a few parties are quite curious about the basis of their motivation in bringing back this game with Konami. Judging from Sony’s closeness to Kojima Productions plus the relevance of Hideo Kojima’s relationship with Konami, there are some assumptions that indicate that Sony wants to act as a mediator over the events that had surfaced between the two.
However, in a rumor that was conveyed in the 4chan forum last January, there was an issue that Sony apparently also had its own agenda regarding this matter. Delivered directly by a user who claims to be one of Konami’s employees, he revealed a number of important information that Sony is in the middle of planning to buy a number of popular game IPs owned by Konami such as Silent Hill, Metal Gear, until Castlevania though.
The link related to the post from the employee happened to have been deleted a long time ago. However, the Jack of All Controller website confirmed that the information seemed to match the sources he had received plus also the information that had been submitted by the Rely on Horror website. So they have enough capacity to believe that this 4chan user doesn’t appear to be “playing” in sharing information regarding the relationship between Sony and Konami.
Specifically, this Konami “employee” also directly explained Sony’s next plan to remake plus reboot these franchises on consoles. PS5. For the Metal Gear franchise, for example, he said that Sony is willing to remake the series Metal Gear 1 (1987) and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990) which incidentally is a prequel series of the PS1 Metal Gear Solid game. From there, Hideo Kojima as the creator will reportedly also intervene in the work.
For Castlevania, Sony also wants to prepare a reboot version by mixing it up like the Castevania Lords of Shadow series (3D gameplay), but with a little touch of the Bloodborne game style (is it like a “soulslike” game?). While the game Silent Hill is more or less similar to what has been revealed in previous rumors. Namely from the game that will be worked on by the developers of the horror game Siren and also from the teams working on the original Silent Hill series (plus Ikumi Nakamura who may be involved).
Until now, the truth of the information above seems still quite vague to be discussed. Especially when talking about the IP takeover speculation that Sony wants to target Konami. Before Konami and Sony’s official statement comes down, of course it’s better if you don’t swallow this information from 4chan raw.
