Reported by Waypoint when they had the opportunity to interview the authors behind The Witcher and Metro 2033, Andrzej, who first wrote The Witcher in the 80s, repeatedly denigrated the video game adaptation as nothing more than a storytelling medium. He even said that the adapted version of the video game cost him the book sales and thought that the book was the one who made the game The Witcher successful outside Eastern Europe as it is today.

Andrzej even publicly admitted that he agreed to adapt his work into the game (by CD Project Red) purely for money. And even considers that video games are destroying its market. Where he said that other people and authors who met him thought that Andrzej was the one who wrote the novel adaptation of his video games.

On the other hand, the author of the series MetroDmitry Glukhovsky who was also interviewed by Waypoint spoke up and argued not only that what Andrzej said was completely wrong, but also arrogant in saying it openly. In his interview even Dmitry gives credit to 4A Games for the popularity of the Metro series outside Eastern Europe which has made a game adaptation of the book. He even continues to collaborate with the developer to continue developing the Metro franchise in the future.

From the attitude of the two writers, it is clear that their relationship with the game developers is clear. Where Dmitry able to maintain a good relationship with the developer 4A Games, whereas Andrzej who increasingly do not get along with CD Project Red despite all the awards The Witcher has won so far.
