Yesterday Said Smaller, Now Ubisoft Calls Assassin's Creed Valhalla Bigger Than Odyssey

Earlier this month, a Ubisoft spokesperson revealed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be smaller than Odyssey and that the campaign duration would not be as long as the game. According to him, Valhalla was forced to make these two decisions to respond to fan feedback on the previous two games which were too “stacked on quests”, making the game seem grindier than it should be.

Now the claim is denied by the producer Julien Laferrière. In an interview with Youtuber Julien Chieze (via DSO gaming), Laferrière says otherwise. He said that between Valhalla and Odyssey, Valhalla had a larger map area.

Without mentioning how big the scale is, he explained that this game will include the whole of England and also parts of Norway. So he denied that Valhalla would be a smaller game than before.

Malek Teffaha’s tweet stating that Valhalla is smaller and shorter than Odyssey was deleted shortly after the media picked it up as news and shortly before this new statement was issued by the producers.

Of course the size of the map does not affect the quality of the game at all. Whether it’s bigger or smaller, it seems that players don’t really care as long as the content of the game itself is satisfying.

From what’s confirmed so far. The game will still retain the RPG elements from Origin and Odyssey but with some of the old mechanics brought back and added features settlement where players can determine what buildings they want to build on the base.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Next-gen consoles. The game has not yet set a release date for now but it is certain that it will launch this year.
