Tifa Would Never Be In Final Fantasy VII Without Nomura

Nomura played a role in the development of the story.

Final Fantasy VII Remake which has just been released has indeed become a very deep nostalgia for fans who have played it in the past. As we know, the game has two main heroines which have been a debate among fans about who should be Cloud’s partner. However, did you know that the game actually only had one heroine before it was finally released in 1997?

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

This was revealed by Tetsuya Nomura, character designer Final Fantasy VII who is now a version Director Remake the game. Through his interview with Famitsu magazine (via DualShockers), Nomura apparently not only acts as a character designer, but also helps the game’s director Yoshinori Kitase (now Producer of Remake) to develop the story.

Nomura said that it was he who suggested to Kitase to kill one of his heroines, either Aerith or Tifa. “We then followed the direction of the story from there,” said Nomura.

After Nomura’s suggestion was accepted by the team, they then created a new character named Tifa which was not previously planned at all. “Initially the game only had Aerith as a heroine, and Tifa was added after that. To replace Aerith’s death, we need a heroine who continues to be by the side of the main character until the story ends,” he added.

Nomura’s acknowledgment made him one of the people who also played an important role in the development Final Fantasy VII. Of course if they released it without Tifa’s presence, it would be very difficult for Square-Enix to continue it into a bigger series with various spin-offs that are still related to the world. However, with the ending version Remake which is still filled with a million questions, of course it will be very interesting to see how Nomura and his team will bring the story of the game that has been etched in the hearts of fans 23 years ago.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake it can now be played on the PlayStation 4. Square-Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s one-year agreement prevented the game from being released for other platforms. So, you have to wait for the game next year if you want to play it on PC or Xbox One.
