Why is Apex Legends' Battle Royale Game Popularity Declining?

Immediately becoming one of the popular games since its release in February, even reaching 50 million players in a matter of weeks, Apex Legends by Respawn Entertainment now doesn’t seem to last long at the top of Battle Royale games.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Having raced competing games such as PUBG and Fortnite regarding the number of viewers on Twitch, now Apex Legends has to decline and fall under the shadow of the Battle Royale game made by Epic Games. And it seems interesting if we look at some of the things that have caused the decline in the popularity of Apex Legends in a short time.

Lack of new content

This seems to be one of the main reasons why Apex Legends is no longer popular. Since its release, Apex Legends has only had one major update, namely the presence of a new weapon, a new legend and the Battle Pass system. It seems legitimate because this game is quite new, but if you compare it with PUBG and Fortnite which are already very rich in content, Apex Legends actually looks like a game. early access which has not yet unleashed its full potential.

Furthermore, the developer even explained that they would only bring major updates containing new content every season, which means every 3 months. They do this in order to maintain the quality of the game, and the developers also don’t want to make their employees work too far, as happened to another studio that is also sheltered by EA as the publisher.

Of course, what Respawn has done is something that deserves thumbs up, but in this day and age where new games are popping up every day, it seems that Respawn has to present really great content if it wants to attract players who have switched games.

Bugs and Glitches

Although it is very rare for a game to come without bugs or glitches, technical problems that can interfere with the game experience are certainly a negative value for the developer. Indeed, Respawn Entertainment itself is quite diligent in providing updates and patches that fix bugs or glitches that appear in the game. But it seems that there are still quite a lot of players who encounter bugs that make the game unpleasant.

A player with the name P3RrYCH for example (via EXP.gg), himself admitted that his account had lost the content that he had obtained while playing, ranging from weapon skins and skin legends, statistics tracker, even money other than Apex Coin suddenly disappeared. Losing things that we have obtained with our own efforts will certainly be very annoying.

The departure of streamers or influencers
Shroud

It is undeniable that gaming streamers have an influence on the popularity of video games. Apex Legends is certainly enlivened with favorite streamers such as Shroud, Dr Disrespect, Dizzy, Ninja and many more. This is of course a little related to the first point, where these streamers certainly get bored quickly because they have spent hours every day playing the same game, but never getting new content.

Some of these streamers even blatantly stated that Apex Legends might not last much longer, and many of them don’t seem to be playing Apex Legends anymore. Shroud for example, where he recently returned to playing PUBG and possibly Fortnite after several months in a row playing Apex Legends.

Another Battle Royale doesn’t want to lose

Like Fortnite for example, which even provides updates almost every week in the form of new content such as new cosmetic items and new modes. This of course makes the players more comfortable because of the new atmosphere even though it is small. Fortnite even tried to imitate Apex Legends’ respawn system, and still managed to receive a positive response.

Another thing to consider is that Apex Legends and Fortnite both only have one battle map. But periodically, Epic Games provides new things in the Fortnite map, which also provides stories that can be interpreted freely by players. While Apex Legends with its own King’s Canyon map has not changed, and maybe Apex Legends will be more like PUBG where there are new maps with a new atmosphere.

Those are some of the main reasons that seem to make Apex Legends’ popularity decline as a Battle Royale game. Of course, this indirectly becomes an issue that Respawn must pay attention to so that Apex Legends can last longer for the next few years.

So, do you think you agree with the points above? Or are you still playing Apex Legends and the game itself is still popular? Come on, just share it in the comments.
