Apex Legends Crossplay Won't Mix Console and PC Players

They don’t do the same thing as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Crossplay is a feature in video games that has two different effects. On the one hand, console players are able to play with PC players at the same time, but on the other hand, they also have to face the cheating that is often done by PC players, or the cool language is called cheaters.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

This happened in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which made console players turn off the crossplay feature with longer matchmaking consequences until finally Infinity Ward and Activision resolved the cheater problem.

However, as if learning from the case, it seems that this was not done by Respawn Entertainment at Apex Legends. This is because they won’t mix console and PC players in one lobby at the same time like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare during matchmaking.

This is explained by Jake Smullen, Software Engineer Apex Legends through his TikTok account that console players will not meet PC players automatically when the crossplay feature is implemented. Console players will be able to play with PC players if they are in a group or party with friends. In other words, if they don’t invite friends from Origin or Steam, then they won’t meet players from those platforms.

Unfortunately, it has not been explained whether the “party without auto-matchmaking between platforms” feature will also apply between consoles or only for console x PC exclusives. This is due to the superior control of the mouse keyboard which is more reactive and faster than the controller, while the console x console will not be a big problem.

Respawn also hasn’t explained at all whether they will support mouse and keyboard when crossplay is released like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the console.

Apex Legends now it can be played on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, the crossplay feature is planned to be released at the same time as the release Apex Legends on Steam and Nintendo Switch in fall or late 2020.
