Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Officially Exclusive One Year of Mode Content on PS4

The new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just dropped today. By re-presenting the heroic story of the figure of Captain Price, the fans seem to have become increasingly impatient in waiting for the new Call of Duty game made by Infinity Ward to come and greet them.

Unfortunately, behind it all, there is a bitter fact that Call of Duty fans outside the PS4 console have to swallow. Presented through 1 video story trailer on Youtube uploaded by the Playstation, Activision as a publisher, has officially locked one of their game content for their fans on the PC and Xbox One platforms.

In the version that has been uploaded by Playstation, towards the end of the trailer they announced the presence of a content mode called “Spec Ops Survival” which officially serves as the only game content that only exclusive for PS4 players. Although it is not yet clear what this survival mode will look like, the exclusivity that Sony gets from this mode is temporary, aka only active for around 1 year just go ahead (to be precise) October 1, 2020).

Activision’s content exclusion policy happened to have caused a new stir among the Call of Duty fan community on Reddit. Not only from their user base on the PC and Xbox One platforms who are annoyed and angry, the players on the PS4 platform are also surprised by this policy. Especially when considering that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series itself is the first Call of Duty series to adopt a cross-platform system.

Is exclusivity really the price that Activision has to pay in order to make Sony willing to approve the presence of cross-platform features? In the previous Call of Duty series (Black Ops 4), Activision was also noted to have taken a similar content exclusion step, although only in a span of 1 week.

Game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare itself is scheduled to be ready to launch on October 25 later for platform PC (via Battle.Net), PS4, and Xbox One.
