In the report, sales of the soccer genre dropped 7% from week to week, but it was still relatively safe because Animal Crossing itself experienced a significant decline of 32% and that’s what made it drop to 2nd place.

When the 2 games experienced a decline in sales, other games in the same chart actually got an increase in sales such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which was ranked 3rd recorded an increase in sales of 36%, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe rose 3 places to the 4th position due to an increase of 98%, while Grand Theft Auto 5 as the name suggests he is in the 5th position with a 52% increase in sales.

Despite the current extended lockdown conditions that have closed High Street stores and few new game releases, physical game sales are slowly starting to increase by 16% week-on-week with more than 234,000 titles already sold. For consoles, sales also increased, such as Xbox One which rose 23% and PS4 consoles also increased by 19%, while Nintendo Switch game sales increased by 9%.

This is the Top 10 Chart version of GfK for last week (as of May 2nd)
