Get Koch Media Fund Injection, Payday 3 Planned to Release in 2023
Due to deteriorating financial conditions, Starbreeze Studios was forced to find a new publisher to help finance the development of Payday 3. After months of searching, the Swedish studio finally managed to get a funding injection from Koch Media.

With Koch Media serving as co-publisher, Starbreeze plans their popular coop game to be released in 2023. Just like the previous game, Starbreeze wants Payday 3 to be released in a “game as live service” format, meaning that the game will continue to be supported with paid post-launch content to keep the gaming community alive.
“We are pleased to announce the long term partnership of Payday 3 with Koch Media in which they share our passion for the Payday franchise and also ‘game as service‘,” said CEO Tobias Sjogren through a press release. “Apart from securing development funds, this collaboration also secures global publishing from Payday 3 as well as marketing during the game’s active period. We now have a solid foundation for the launch of Payday 3.”
This is good news for Payday fans. The second game has aged and the existence of a third sequel was a big question mark when Starbreeze was threatened with bankruptcy. Their last game – The Walking Dead – failed to achieve the expected performance and reportedly even suffered heavy losses due to the project. Now hopefully the developer can rise after the release of the upcoming Payday 3.
