The film is set in the year 2045, where most of humanity has fled to a virtual game world called OASIS created by James Halliday. Before Halliday died, he made a contest to find the easter eeg that he had hidden in the game, whoever managed to find the easter egg would be entitled to full control of the OASIS. Ready Player One of course also provides a major attraction for gamers, it will feature iconic characters from the game world such as Tracer (Overwatch), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), until Chun-Li (Street Fighter).
