Reported by Sony’s explanation to The Verge, the PlayStation 5 developer explained that at the initial release of the console later, the storage capacity of the PlayStation 5 will temporarily not be able to be stored.upgrade first. This is because currently some M.2 SSD it still can’t be compatible with the PlayStation 5, so Sony still needs to find a way to fix this later.

Apart from this, the PlayStation 5 will later be able to support external storage which is useful for seamlessly transferring PS4 game data to PS5. However, later the external storage will still not be able to be used to install Playstation 5 games, where as Sony has confirmed, PlayStation 5 games can only be installed on internal storage.
