Popular CamScanner Application Indicated There Is Dangerous Malware

The application is CamScanner, surely some of you know and may use it, the application is a PDF creator application where you can scan documents into a file with only your phone camera. ZDNet noted, this application has been downloaded no less than 100 million times since its release in 2010 on the Google Play Store.

This discovery was first noticed by security researchers from Kaspersky lab, and furthermore, security researchers at Kaspersky also discovered that a number of new versions of the application also contained a Trojan designed to send malware to Android phones.

This application itself was created and designed by the developer CC Intelligence based in Shanghai. Specifically, Kaspersky detected the Trojan-Dropper.AndroidOS.Necro.n module. a Trojan module where it will process until the Trojan Downloader appears, later the Trojan Downloader will download other malicious modules to the phone that has CamScanner installed.

From the information we summarized from Android Police, the malware first appeared in the June 16 update (version 5.11.3.20190616) and persisted until the June 25 update (version 5.12.0.20190725), until it was removed in the June 30 update (version 5.12.0.20190730).

After the incident was leaked, now the application has been penalized until then removed by Google from the Play Store, but it is not clear how long the application will be penalized whether temporarily or permanently.
