Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 678, Mid-range Chipset For 2021

Qualcomm, the chipset manufacturer from the United States, has just introduced its mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 678. This chipset is a mid-range chipset from Qualcomm that was released to the market after they announced their flagship chipset, Snapdragon 888 some time ago.

As a mid-range chipset, Qualcomm promises an increase in performance from the previous generation, namely Snapdragon 675. Built on 11 nm fabrication, Qualcomm claims there will be a significant increase in camera and gaming performance.

“Snapdragon 678 brings the latest capabilities to support user entertainment needs through reliable connections and long-lasting battery capacity,” said Kedar Kondap, Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies Inc.

For specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 uses a Kryo 460 CPU with a clock speed of 2.2 GHz, slightly faster than the Snapdragon 675 with a clock speed of only 2.0 Ghz. However, the graphics processor is still the same, namely the Adreno 612 GPU.

However, unfortunately this latest mid-range chipset from Qualcomm does not support 5G connectivity the same as its predecessor. So, users might bite their fingers a little considering that in 2021, many countries have implemented 5G network connectivity.

Qualcomm says that this chipset will be available for mid-range phones in 2021, so no 2020 phones will use this chipset.
