Rating Agency Immediately Issues Microtransaction Warnings in Every Video Game Released

If there is a microtransaction of course.

Rating agency interference is very common in the video game industry. This of course aims to warn parents to choose the right game for their child. However, thanks to the microtransaction drama that took place in the last few months to the political realm, they seem to have taken the initiative to take other ways to warn non-gamers, especially parents, of the games they bought.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

European rating agency, PEGI announced that the physical version of the video game in the near future will have an “in-game purchase” or microtransaction icon for games that have this service. The icon depicting a hand holding a credit card has been used in digital products and will be used by PEGI to provide ratings in the future.

The decision was made thanks to the results of a survey which showed that two out of five parents indicated that their children spent money to buy microtransactions. The icon is there to warn customers and parents that the game they are going to buy will have a microtransaction service that can be purchased with real money.

According to his post on Reddit, the icon that you can see above will also indirectly provide a new rule that developers will not be able to provide microtransactions after the game is released. This means they have to confirm with PEGI first that the game they make has microtransactions rather than having to add it after the game is released.

It is not yet clear when this system will be implemented, but they confirmed that it will be officially implemented starting at the end of 2018.
