Sega Accuses SteamDB of Distributing Pirated Version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Ridiculous.

We all know that one of the reasons why Japanese developers and publishers don’t want to distribute their games to PC is a lot of piracy. Of course this is very easy to understand, but the high profits generated in this market of course make many developers and publishers from the country of Sakura tempted by the lure of additional funds.

We are now officially on the platform Tiktok! Follow our Tiktok account at @gamebrott.com to find various information and our other interesting video content.

Slowly but surely they are finally starting to release some of their games to PC although they keep an eye on the risks of piracy. Some of them also had time to fight piracy by taking down pages to illegal sites that distribute ROMs and various pirated games that are currently not found on the market.

However, what if one of them misses the point? This is the blunder that SEGA did to the SteamDB page, a video game database information site marketed on Steam.

This was revealed by Pavel Djundik, the creator of SteamDB via his personal Twitter account. He said that SEGA lawyers tried to shut down the page Yakuza: Like a Dragon belongs to SteamDB. They claim that SteamDB is distributing its games illegally.

Djundik then closed the page because SEGA’s lawyers and SEGA’s own party did not respond to his defense. Now page Yakuza: Like a Dragon on SteamDB inaccessible and simply reads “this page is closed because Sega claims we distributed their games here (we didn’t do that)”.

Steamdb Yakuza

Interestingly, page games Yakuza the others it is safe and not closed by Djindik. Indicate that SEGA is only targeting pages Yakuza: Like a Dragon just.

Of course this is a very funny thing from SEGA, considering that SteamDB itself is just a website containing information on any video game that is sold on Steam. In addition to prices in each country, they also distribute information on which games are top-sellers each week and how many players are playing them.

SteamDB never distributes pirated games, even the creators themselves say loudly that they don’t support such illegal acts.

As of this writing, SEGA has not commented on the case at all.
