Sony Immediately Opens Mobile Games Division, Wants to Bring God of War to Uncharted to Smartphones

Sony along with the IP game it made is always attached to the console Playstation. They often dare to associate or tout their work as an exclusive IP. Alias, can only be released on the PlayStation console and for the PlayStation only. However, this principle is known to appear to have begun to fade in recent times. The release of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone on the PC platform became a kind of trigger for Sony to want to open the door to other platforms.

And sure enough, it’s not only the PC platform that has slowly penetrated into the original Playstation games, the world mobile games also started to open the door. Reported from job listing or a new job vacancy that Sony is currently in need of, they are reportedly looking for someone who can be head in leading mobile game development.

As if ready to open a new division for Sony studios, this “head” is explained to have a big responsibility to formulate various strategies for developing their products in the mobile market. Especially in adapting all forms of expansion of Sony’s well-known gaming IPs to mobile, along with planning aspects of the game-style live services that are ready to be implemented in the roadmap for the next 3 to 5 years.

With class names Gran Turismo, God of War, and Uncharted as their best-selling franchise, it is very likely that Sony will first start their expansion in the world of the mobile or smartphone market through these three games.

Because previously, Sony was reportedly focused on continuing to develop their more successful game franchises, rather than continuing the franchise with a reception that was not too satisfying or large. This was reflected in the news of the development of the first remake of The Last of Us and the decision to reject the creation of a sequel for the game Days Gone.

Sony is also known to be quite serious in providing this vacancy. Because they expect that the candidate must have the ability to not only lead, but also maintain the sustainability of the mobile division group so that it continues to last and grow. Sony itself specifically provides conditions for applicants that candidates must have minimum 15 years experience in the world of business planning.
