Even though they had failed in the third generation, they are back in the industry through the PlayStation 4. Now, Sony is preparing to make a transition to the next generation, the PlayStation 5, which is scheduled to be released in November.

With the success of the PS4, it’s no wonder that many people expect more from the next latest console from Sony. Interestingly, the Japanese company apparently hopes that the PS5 will be more successful than its predecessor.

Speaking to Naver (via GamesIndustry), Sony CEO Jim Ryan said that they hope the PS5 will be better than the PS4 when it releases. In more detail, he continued that the company hopes that its newest console will sell more than the first fiscal year when the PS4 was released.

Ryan’s statement specifically explains that they expect the PlayStation 5 to sell more than seven million units. This is because the PlayStation 4 itself has successfully surpassed it since the console was released in November 2013. Sales continued to increase until the end of Sony’s fiscal year, which was in March 2014.

Previously, Sony planned to reach more players with the PlayStation 5 even though it was still during the pandemic. They also intend to surpass the number of PlayStation 4s in the past. Sony is even preparing a plane to send the console to the United States.
