Square-Enix Satisfied with Final Fantasy VII Remake Sales

Sales of Final Fantasy VII Remake went very smoothly.

Final Fantasy VII Remake has indeed become an extraordinary phenomenon over the last few months. How come? The game managed to bring back nostalgia to the fans, but with a “change” that had never been done before. Although some old fans were angry and disappointed by Square-Enix’s decision, this did not reduce how best-selling the game was since its release on the PlayStation 4. Its sales even skyrocketed thanks to the franchise’s big name.

Square-Enix itself is very satisfied with the sales Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation 4. In the Q&A they published, CEO Yosuke Matsuda explained that they are very happy with the total 3.5 million game units that have been sold. Unfortunately, sales of the physical version have been very low due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Even so, digital sales experienced a very significant increase.

Matsuda also confirmed that they still don’t want to talk about the release Final Fantasy VII Remake on other platforms for now. So, you have to wait for the information a little longer.

Square-Enix also seems to want to focus on inviting new players to play the game, but not in terms of price reductions in the future. This of course will make you waiting for a discount, it seems you have to be more patient to be able to enjoy games made or published by Square-Enix.

With sales of HD games (singleplayer games for consoles) declining, Matsuda believes that improving quality is the key to increasing sales. They will still strive to improve the quality of their products so that players can enjoy them for a long time.

At the end of the report, Square-Enix announced that they would not be livestreaming a replacement for E3 2020. They would continue to announce the game as usual through a trailer when they felt it was appropriate.
