The Reason Resident Evil Village Only Released on Next-Gen Consoles Because of Visuals and Performance

If previously there was news that Resident Evil 8 or now called Resident Evil Village will still be released on the current generation console, through its first announcement some time ago, it turns out that the game made by Capcom will only be available on next-gen consoles.

According to the leaker Aesthetic Gamer aka Dusk Golem through his post on Twitter, this is because in the eighth Resident Evil series Capcom will inject more exploration elements which will certainly drain the power of the current generation console if forced to release it.

According to him, the steps taken by the developer in designing Resident Evil 8 and presenting an overhaul of the visual quality make this game difficult to run on current generation consoles, even if forced to do so will trigger problems such as pop-in/long texture loads.

The problem of load times will be triggered because while playing this game, we will explore more throughout the village which is the main setting. This will certainly burden and drain the power of the current generation of consoles, which incidentally are not equipped with SSDs like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

This is the reason why Capcom in the end decided to only present RE 8 or Resident Evil Village on the next-gen console only while ensuring that its development was not limited by last-gen technology.

Resident Evil Village itself is planned to be released in 2021 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and also PC.
