Want to Rise Back, Overkill will Add New DLC for Payday 2

The business of making video games doesn’t always run smoothly. Over time, its development costs a lot, which means that if a game made by a developer fails on the market, the publisher and developer will lose a lot. Not a few of them went out of business because the game was not successful. For them to leave the industry forever. One of the publishers who are currently struggling not to experience a similar incident is Starbreeze.

Failure Overkill’s The Walking Dead which was eventually canceled for them to experience financial problems. Force them to sell some of their IPs like System Shock, Psychonauts, and 10 Crowns for them to return to the green graph. But they did not give up and will continue to fight in this industry. Evidently they still want to continue one of the franchises, namely Payday to the third iteration which is planned to be released in 2022 or 2023. They also announced that Overkill will return to provide new content for the second series.

As we already know, content Payday 2 ended at the end of 2018. But it looks like Starbreeze wants to earn passive income while Overkill is working Payday 3. They also changed their way of selling Payday 2. The Ultimate Edition which gives access to all DLC both released and unreleased will now be removed and replaced with the Legacy Edition. This edition will contain all the old DLC, but you will have to buy some new content that is planned to be released in the future. Starbreeze is also returning the standard version and allowing you to purchase the DLC separately.

Interestingly, those of you who already own the game in full or with just a few DLC will get a Legacy Edition discount according to the DLC you have. But the question is, are you willing to buy new content from games that have been released for six years?
